Why we built it
• Many people discover too late that a signed contract does not stop unpaid work. The cost and stress of chasing money is real.
• We have lived the pain of vague scope, big invoices at the end and clients who pay slowly or not at all.
• Flikker exists so both sides can see the same steps, the same funded amounts and the same proof before anything is approved.
• The goal is not to "win" against the other side, but to balance risk: the client never pays for work they do not see, and the provider never works beyond what is funded.
• If a project is cancelled before a step is approved, the aim is that the client can get 100 percent of that funded amount back, minus any card processing fees Stripe has already taken. Nothing is quietly siphoned off on the way.
How we design product decisions
• Structure before trust. Clear funded steps and visible evidence beat vague promises and long email threads.
• Simple language. People who run projects should not need a law degree or payments background to understand what happens.
• Honest separation of fees. Flikker platform fee is always net and Stripe card fees are separate and charged by Stripe.
• No dark patterns. No surprise renewals on the Founder Offer, no hidden add-ons, no tricks in the small print.
• Built for both sides of the project. If a decision only feels good for one side and bad for the other, we keep iterating.
